Alsajad NRM tells you a lot about its owners, Jacqui and Andrew Drysdale. The name "Alsajad" comprises the first two initials of their three children Alexandra, Samantha and James with a "D" for Drysdale to finish it off. It embraces Jacqui and Andrew’s core value of "family is everything".
Alsajad Pty Ltd was registered in 1990s when Jacqui and Andrew Drysdale were part owners of a Charleville Hardware store. They formed Alsajad NRM in 2018 when Andrew left his long time employment as the CEO of NRM Regions Queensland to pursue a long held desire to start his own NRM consultancy business.
Through Alsajad NRM, Andrew continues to help regional, rural and remote Australians sustainably use, enhance and protect the natural resources they depend on. Andrew believes that vibrant communities need healthy landscapes and that healthy landscapes need vibrant communities. They are interdependent!
Managing Director
With 35 years experience in the rural and regional sectors, Andrew Drysdale is recognised as a leader in community engagement and has a passion for furthering the endeavours of community based natural resource management.
A former primary producer himself, Andrew has a unique appreciation of the complexities and challenges that exist for farming communities on a day to day basis. Having worked for leading organisations in the agricultural sector, Andrew is acutely aware for the need to have proper mechanisms in place for the responsible management of land and other natural resources.
One of Andrew's longest enduring achievements was the establishment of the South West Queensland Financial Counselling Service in 1992. Andrew was the founding Chairperson and the organisation still exists today.
As a small business owner in Charleville during the demise of the wool industry Andrew experienced the devastating effect that the demise of a single industry can have on small business and rural communities.
Before starting his own community engagement consultancy business, Andrew worked extensively in leading organisations responsible for developing and delivering community based, natural resource management. His role in these organisations included empowering land holders, local government and community interest groups to better manage their natural resources.
